MATERIALS - Corian

Corian® is a versatile material, invented, manufactured and commercialized in 1967 by DuPont, the chemical company founded in 1802 in Delaware, which has also patented Nylon, Kevlar and Neoprene.
It is a solid, non-porous, homogeneous material, composed of 1/3 acrylic resin (polymethyl methacrylate, PMMA) and 2/3 natural minerals mainly consisting of aluminum trihydrate (ATH), obtained from bauxite (through which aluminum is produced).

Technical Features
Corian® has the same qualities of stone plans, but it can assume any shape and be processable on a lathe, just like wood.
Corian® is resistant to direct sunlight and its color remains substantially unchanged over time. It can resists to normal stresses and heat (only for a few seconds if the contact is direct).
Corian® is a translucent material, therefore it allows the light to pass through it.
Corian® is resistant, hygienic (as in accordance with DIN EN ISO 846) and stain-resistant, the absence of any weld gives it a consistent look. Corian® is repairable and renewable and, thanks to its versatility and multiple color variations, it is very appreciated in architecture and interior design.
This material also integrates itself perfectly with other materials such as tiles, wood, steel, granite and glass and ensures good durability.
Corian® has various applications in indoor and outdoor environments, from commercial or residential spaces (it's widely used for the furnishing of kitchens and bathrooms), to shops, restaurants or airports.
